I think Everyone Who Has A Horse Or Works With Horses Should Have This Book September 7, 2010 Taylor I have been training with KFH Techniques for years. I have never had a horse who couldn't make it through this program beautifully and I specialize in Rescues and Severe Abuse cases. All of my adopters are required to learn these techniques not only for their benefit but for the full benefit of the horses as well. I have yet to have a horse relapse or not flourish. I highly recommend this book as it gives clear and plain instruction as to not only how to communicate, but what you are communicating and why it should be done in this manner. If you love your horse- YOU NEED THIS BOOK!
This Man Knows The Way To a Horse's Heart August 17, 2010 closee I don't have enough superlatives for this book. I've studied lots of different horse training gurus, but stumbled on this book first after purchasing a horse that was a handful, putting it mildly. I'm so glad I stumbled on this one first and invested in it, a wise investment!
It turned my basically people-despising horse into a teddy bear and gave us a wonderful, deep relationship that I'm sure I would not have gotten out of any other instruction.
When our exercises were over and I'd disassemble the "picadero" (see book), my horse would linger, looking sad-eyed that the fun was over. He loved it and responded beautifully.
I'll be buying every book this man writes since only recently learning he has written 2 more.
Comfortable bareback trot impossible?? NOPE!! April 7, 2010 V. Slack (New Zealand) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book taught me how to ride in a comfortable bareback trot!! WOW!!
I own a LOT of horse books, and this book is amazing to say the least. Hempling easily surpasses Roberts and Parelli with his natural approaches that are so easy to learn (if you have read the book right through before starting work with your horse and are open to seemingly odd perspectives).
The best thing about this book (aside from REALLY learning how to ride) is how mentally and physically sound your horse becomes, which as a bonus virtually emilinates the pricey and unexpected vet bills, and also the money you save by not needing a bridle, saddle, etc.
(I also recommend Jamie Jackson's Paddock Paradise book which is about creating a natural home for your horse, and which cuts out completely the need for a farrier!)
The one thing missing from Hemplings book is the body language to use when playing with your horse. Hempling emphasises fun and play but doesn't explain specifics.
In regard to horses, I am self taught, so no influence from pony clubs etc and I do everything in my life where posssible naturally, so if this sounds like the opposite of you, Hemplings book (and Jackson's) is probably a little over the top. Try Roberts or Parelli - they're still quite good. Mary Wanless might help too. (Though don't even bother with these books if you get this one!!!!)
A book which makes you search your soul March 23, 2010 Silverado I absolutely love this book. I also own the dvd and watch it regularly for inspiration. Klaus brings spirituality into training, the relationship he has with his horses is wonderful. I would highly recommend this book to anyone.
I have been searching my whole life for a book like this December 25, 2009 Laura L. Ross (Kentucky USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book is truly for the person that wants to be one with their horse. This author deeply understands the horse. It's probably not the book for someone who is just a weekend rider and keeps their horse at the local barn for lessons and occasional shows. If you REALLY want to know and communicate with your horse, read this book.
